Meet the man behind the music

Christian Blues man, Nashville Fats Nashville Fats has an objective each time he performs...to promote God’s word in a bold and raw medium, Christian Blues. What better way to express feeling or emotion than through the soulful sound of the blues. When the blues meets Jesus it becomes music of the soul, and can’t help but touch each soul that hears and hearkens.Born Peter Thorpe, November 30, 1952, Nashville Fats learned to sing as a young child, while listening to Caruso and Mario Lanza on his parents’ hi fi set. He received his first guitar at the age of 12 and that same year accepted Jesus Christ into his life.Peter discovered blues music at the age of 16 and began his songwriting career. The love for the blues took Peter on a quest over the next twenty years off researching and studying the history as well as the varied styles of blues music. In the meantime, he traveled and performed with many bands as guitar player and vocalist, including the Peter Thorpe Blues Band. When he rededicated his life to Christ in 1993, Peter began writing Christian music with a blues-based intensity.

Peter’s biggest fans are his wife, Betsy, and daughter, Ruby, Having an audience of fans ranging from former Woodstockers to present day Lollapaloozers, bikers, to prisoners, allows Peter to take God’s Word to the streets ands to the prisons, to the depressed and oppressed. The soulful sound of the blues relates to the hearts of many today. But when they hear and hearken to the works, the hope of Christ can bee heard and the lost have a Light to lead them out of the darkness. The blues becomes joy in the heart and the seed of hope takes root. "Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was give to us."
